(São Paulo, Brazil)
Living and working in São Paulo, Brazil, Paulette Gerecht holds a degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the “Centro Universitário Belas Artes” (University Center of Fine Arts).
In 2000 she started to work with painting techniques, having attended several workshops taught by renowned masters.
She participated in the Exhibitions: “Colors of Brazil” in Dubai (2017), “Brazil in Focus” at the Brazilian Embassy in London (2017), the 21st International Contemporary Art Exhibition at Carrousel du Louvre in Paris (2017), the XII International Biennial of Watercolor in Mexico (2016), and the 4th Latin American Autumn Salon – SOAL in São Paulo (2016).
In November 2017, she held the individual exhibition “Atmospheres”, curated by Oscar D’Ambrosio at the “Museu do Café” (Coffee Museum) – UNESP / Botucatu.
Transparencies are the main element of her work. With an emphasis on colors and movement, Paulette brings in her paintings the essence of hiding and veiling. Her way of painting involves exactly dealing with uncertainty – especially because of watercolor, her preferred technique – characterized by the silences and the creation of unique atmospheres.
